Graves Motorsports’ pilot Jamie Hacking
earned a well-deserved AMA Superstock victory at Pikes Peak
International Raceway on Sunday, May 22. Riding his Yamaha
YZF-R1, Hacking sparred with Aaron Yates and Tommy Hayden for
most of the 29 laps on a hot, slick track, then took the lead
from Yates with four laps to go. Teammate Jason DiSalvo finished
fourth aboard another blue and white R1.
“It was a tough race, and tough races are good ones to win,”
Hacking said afterwards. “On the first lap I was in third behind
Yates and DiSalvo, and exiting a corner there was already smoke
pouring off their tires. I thought, ‘Oh boy, this is going to be
a long race.’”
The victory vaults Hacking into the points lead over Yates and
DiSalvo, who are tied for second. It also represents his first
Superstock win this year. “Jamie really earned it today,” said
Yamaha Road Racing Manager Tom Halverson. “There’s no place to
rest on that track, but he kept his cool and kept the pressure
on Yates and Hayden, and the three of them had a good battle.”

Supersport race, which started just moments after he returned
from the Superstock winner’s podium. He eventually finished
third with teammate Aaron Gobert fourth.
