score 1-2 finish in Superstock
race |
An All Blue One-Two…
For Immediate Release:
Fontana, CA
5/2/05
An exciting weekend of racing at
California Speedway saw Team Graves
Yamaha deliver on its promise and return
to the top step of the podium. The race
shaped up as a three-way showdown
between Yamaha team-mates Jamie Hacking
and Jason DiSalvo, along with Aaron
Yates. The three broke out early, with
Hacking leading the way before giving
way to Yates and then DiSalvo. Yates led
from that point with DiSalvo shadowing
and Hacking holding a strong third
place.
Two laps from the
end Yates succumbed to the pressure and
tucked the front in the infield handing
the first two places to DiSalvo and
Hacking. Steve Rapp finished third.
The Points total have now swung back
into Yamaha’s favor as well with DiSalvo
leading on 95, with teammate Jamie
Hacking tied for second on 88.
A return to winning ways shows the clear
determination of the Team Graves Yamaha
riders and crew to remain the class
leader in performance.
A
short respite then sees the team head to
Sonoma, California for round four of the
championship at Infineon Raceway, and
then to Pikes Peak Colorado, the
following weekend. Stay Tuned.

Hacking
takes the win in Supersport race |
It was AMA Supersport racing at its
best at California Speedway on Sunday,
May 1. Six riders pulled away from the
pack on the infield road course in a
breathtaking display of control and
aggression. Until Lap 5 that is, when
Jamie Hacking stole the lead from
frontrunner Tommy Hayden, using his
YZF-R6 to building up a lead that was
never challenged.
Meanwhile Yamaha teammates Jason DiSalvo
and Aaron Gobert were also part of the
six-rider group. DiSalvo locked Roger
Lee Hayden into his sights and pursued
him right to the end to finish fourth.
Aaron Gobert brought a third Factory
Yamaha Team YZF-R6 home in fifth for a
tremendous day for Yamaha – three
blue-and-white machines in the top five,
and five in the top 10.
Road-racing veteran Hacking has now
earned two Supersport wins in a row, and
Sunday’s victory moves Yamaha to the top
of the point standings in the 10-race
series.
